Welcome
My name is Karen. I've been providing professional, friendly editorial services to regular and new clients since 2009. I work with independent authors, publishers, academics, businesses and charities around the world.
I think that good editing fully preserves the author's voice and message while providing clarity and consistency. This requires communication and trust between author and editor, and I very much enjoy creating strong editorial relationships.
I can help you determine the next steps for your unique manuscript, whatever its stage of development.
I understand the challenges faced by authors, and I will give you honest, friendly advice with no obligation to use my services. |
Why choose to work with me?
I'm highly qualified, with a PhD, an MSc and an LLB. Further details of my background can be found here.
I'm an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP). This is the highest grade of membership, and it shows that I've demonstrated my training, skills and experience to my industry's professional body.
I follow the CIEP's Code of Practice and engage in regular training and ongoing professional development. I am also a tutor on two CIEP self-assessed courses.
My academic background and editorial training have given me a head for detail, but I also bring to my work the enthusiasm of a lifelong bookworm.

Bestselling author Harry Bingham had this to say when I edited several of his books about writing:
"Karen was deft, inconspicuous, tactful and thorough. It was a pleasure working with her. I've worked with a lot of copyeditors over the years, and Karen has been a particular joy."
